The Laval Eye Clinic embodies excellence and innovation in the field of optometry. Founded in 2018 by Dr. Gallant in a small office in Ste-Rose, the clinic quickly grew to become a leader in the management of eye health issues. The addition of Dr. B\u00e9dard in 2018 and Dr. Aumond in 2019 helped diversify and enrich the range of services, particularly in the area of dry eye management.<\/p>\n
Through constant investment in specialized equipment, the clinic has remained at the forefront of scientific advancements. Its reputation was further strengthened in 2020 when the University of Montreal partned with it to host optometry doctoral students for their fifth year internships. This collaboration has allowed more than 18 optometry graduates to train in a unique and enriching care environment. In this context, several doctoral students distinguished themselves through their professionalism and expertise and joined the project \u2014 namely Dr. Rocio Rojas-Linares in 2022, Dr. Leila Itani in 2023, and Dr. Amel Mekideche in 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In response to increasing demand, the clinic relocated to a larger space in 2021, which allowed it to expand its services, including ocular emergency care and visual exams. Today, it treats around 3,000 ocular emergencies each year, an impressive number that reflects the competence and dedication of its optometrists.<\/p>\n The Laval Eye Clinic stands out for the diversity of its services, including the management of ocular emergencies, eye health, low vision, myopia control, orthokeratology, dry eye management, pediatrics, binocular vision, neuro-optometry and glaucoma treatment. During her master\u2019s degree, she got interested in the life quality of visually impaired elders, as well as the clinical aspect of visual examination for children with mutlideficiency (cerebral paralysis, trisomy, etc.)<\/p>\n Dr. B\u00e9dard has been teaching the basic techniques, as well as teaching advanced eye health evaluation techniques at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al since 2011. She has oversees specialized examination for visually impaired patients at the Institut Nazareth and Louis-Braille in collaboration with the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al.
